Martin John Fowler
Martin John Fowler was born and brought up in the mining towns of South Yorkshire. He studied drawing and painting at Doncaster College of Art, then painting and printmaking at Sheffield College of Art, completing his BA(Hons) in Fine Art.
Martin travels across the country to paint on location in all weather, from the Scottish Isles to Cornwall's hidden coves. He records the 'Prevailing Sense of Change' in coastal working ports by drawing and painting spontaneously and often using fingers, sticks, or whatever is at hand to keep pace with the elements.
Martin has exhibited work nationally and internationally in solo, mixed, and competition exhibitions. His paintings, drawings and prints are held in many private collections.
‘The Prevailing Sense of Change’ is an ongoing project for Martin John Fowler reflecting the continuous transformation in Britain's coastal working ports and rural or urban landscapes. Drawing from childhood memories and current observations, Martin creates work that explores how these landscapes evolve over time.
